Shine is a 39.92-metre fully custom, all-aluminium motor yacht built by Van der Valk Shipyard. Delivered in 2026, she is the largest yacht built by the Dutch shipyard to date. Formerly known as Project EVO, Shine was developed through close collaboration between the owners, designers, naval architects and engineering teams.

The exterior design was developed by Cristiano Gatto Design, based on an original concept by SFG Design that first attracted the owners’ attention at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in 2023. Ginton Naval Architects developed the naval architecture, including the round-bilge, fast-displacement hull, while Diana Yacht Design was responsible for the structural engineering.

A particular engineering challenge was the aft section, where a multifunctional transformer swim platform, outboard rudders, an aft transom door and two fold-down balconies had to be integrated into the structure. At the same time, large main-deck windows and an open interior layout reduced the available structural support points. Addressing these challenges while preserving the intended exterior profile and open interior arrangement was central to Diana Yacht Design’s contribution.

Powered by twin MTU 16V2000 engines, Shine reaches a top speed of 24 knots and cruises at approximately 19 knots. She accommodates ten guests across five cabins, including a main-deck master suite, two VIP cabins and two twin guest suites, with accommodation for eight crew members.

Shine joins other Van der Valk projects in Diana Yacht Design’s portfolio, including MY Lalabe and MY Maravi, each reflecting a different approach to design, engineering and owner customisation within the 30 to 40-metre segment.
