Project Berlin is a 30-metre custom aluminium raised pilothouse yacht currently under construction at Van der Valk Shipyard in the Netherlands. Developed for experienced owners transitioning from a serial production yacht, the project is centred around extended onboard living and a highly personal way of using the vessel.
From the outset, the brief focused on comfort, practicality and flexibility during longer stays on board. Instead of maximising guest capacity, the layout prioritises space, light and ease of use. As a result, Project Berlin is conceived as a refined liveaboard yacht rather than a conventional guest-focused layout.
The exterior and interior design, by Guido de Groot Design, presents a contemporary interpretation of the raised pilothouse concept. Clean lines define the profile, while the raised pilothouse clearly separates navigation, living spaces and accommodation. In addition, an asymmetric layout increases interior volume, creating a spacious main saloon with forward dining and large opening windows.
Accommodation reflects the owners’ lifestyle. Two generous VIP staterooms are located on the lower deck, while the full-beam owner’s suite is positioned forward on the main deck. At the same time, careful attention has been given to the crew areas to support longer periods on board.
As Naval Architects, Diana Yacht Design leads the technical development and hull design. The yacht features a hard-chine semi-displacement hull, balancing performance, efficiency and seakeeping. With construction underway and delivery scheduled for summer 2027, Project Berlin illustrates how naval architecture shapes both performance and life on board.
