Awatea (ex. MY Trust) is a 45-metre displacement motor yacht built by Royal Hakvoort Shipyard in the Netherlands over four years and delivered in 2008. Featuring a steel hull and aluminium superstructure with a beam of 8.8 metres and draft of 2.80 metres, she was designed for global cruising with a range of 4,600 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 11.3 knots.
Diana Yacht Design was responsible for the naval architecture and marine engineering. Her displacement hull form, combined with sweeping lines and a flared bow, balances seakeeping performance with fuel efficiency. Built to Lloyd’s Register Class and MCA compliant, she was engineered for long-range passages across all ocean conditions.
Accommodation is provided for up to fourteen guests across five staterooms, including a full-beam master suite on the main deck. Additionally, the yacht accommodates a professional crew of nine. Exterior design by Cor D. Rover emphasizes classical proportions, while interior design is by Felix Buytendijk.
Awatea offers exceptionally large interior volumes for a 45-metre yacht, maximizing her 499 GT to create a spacious onboard experience. Outdoor spaces are arranged across multiple decks, with alfresco dining available on three levels. Furthermore, the sun deck and foredeck provide dedicated sunbathing areas, while the beach club features air conditioning, a complete bathroom with shower, and a large swim platform for direct sea access.
Her displacement hull was engineered to deliver stability and comfort during extended offshore passages. Moreover, the flared bow and hull form ensure strong seakeeping characteristics in varying conditions. Ultimately, Awatea reflects a design philosophy centered on functionality, seaworthiness and timeless elegance, a yacht that feels significantly larger than her length suggests.
The yacht underwent several refit periods during her operational life, including updates in 2025.
